Sunday’s div 2 play-off semi-finals gave us
two enjoyable games with one predictable
outcome and one with a surprise result.
Nene Valley Venom ran Ouse Valley Vipers
from the start, winning 26-10, 20-8, 21-9
and 22-10 in a fairly one-sided game to
progress comfortably through to the final.
Game 2 between Spalding Storm and
Peterborough Ronins was far more
competitive and coming just two weeks
after Storm’s 82-40 Trophy semi-final win.
Storm made the better start, leading 25-16
at the first break but a 10-19 second tied
the game at 35-35 at half-time.
Storm came out strong in the third and
looked to be taking control winning 18-9 to
take a 53-44 lead.
Ronins fought back again in the fourth as
Storm’s offence collapsed and the 2-17 final
quarter was enough to take Ronins through
with a 55-61 win.
Next Sunday is the div1 play-off semis,
East Cambs Warriors v Ouse Valley Vipers
at 1.15pm followed by Nene Valley Venom
v Cambridge Lion Rock at 2.45pm.
Both the finals are the following week, May 10.
