Latest news...... 17 April
In the three league games between Nene Valley Venom and East Cambs Warriors the winning margin has been 6, 5 and 5 points.
On that basis, another close game in
yesterday’s Cup Final was to be expected,
and so it proved to be.
Relatively low scoring start, Warriors made the
first basket and the quarter finished at 10-10,
baskets were traded through the second
and Nene led 24-20 at half-time.
Warriors opened the third with a 0-8 run
to go ahead but again baskets at each end
kept it close, Warriors taking a 33-34 lead
into the fourth.
Nene went on a 14-6 run which took them
47-40 ahead with 3 minutes to play and
the game looked to be over.
Those final minutes took an age to play
however and the flow of the game was lost
as the clock ran down.
Warriors made a couple of baskets and a 3
on the buzzer but Nene Valley won 49-47
to retain the Cup.
